Mother’s Day is just around the corner and that means its time for the National Association of Letter Carriers annual Food Drive. Saturday, May 13th, 2017 is the day to put your bag of food items out by your mailbox and the local postal carrier will pick up the bag and return it to their local office where representatives of local organizations will receive the bags and distribute the food through their Food Pantry.
This event is put on each year and is a huge event in our area. The local postal carriers will be delivering a post card explaining the event on Monday, May 8th, 2017. On Wednesday or Thursday of this week you will receive the brown paper bag with the Clearinghouse Logo on the side. This is the bag you can fill with food items. Place the bag next to your mailbox on Saturday, May 13th and your carrier will pick up the bag and bring it to their post office. At that time volunteers from local nonprofits will unload the bags and take them to their local pantry where the food will be distributed to the families in need in their area.
The Clearinghouse wants to shout out a huge “THANK YOU” to all the donors and especially the hard work of all the letter carriers on this day. Everyone goes above and beyond to make this event a success for each community they serve.
Remember to mark your calendar for Saturday, May 13th, 2017 to have your filled bag ready to set out by your mailbox. We appreciate your support of this special event.
